Devoted Love

Last week I had the amazing privilege of spending the week with my grandparents. During my week there I was in absolute "awh" of how devoted my grandfather is to my grandmother. Even though he isn't in the best health, and Granny is on hospice - he absolutely adores her.

Every day it was blazing hot outside, so he walked around the house for his 'walk' instead. Each time he made the loop by her bed, he would stop lean over and talk to her, maybe even put his hand on her face or arm. She isn't responsive much, but each time she would turn her head and look at him. It was as though there hearts spoke, even when neither of them said anything. It was the most inspiring thing to watch.

Too many times I think each one of us get caught up living life. Maybe we should be more like Granny and Gramps. Live each day simply, and find even the smallest way to show love to your spouse. Life is too short, and just like Gramps says "it feels like we got married yesterday....." that was 62 years ago.

I have never been more honored to witness such sweet, simple, devoted love to one another. Knowing that their time is limited, watching the two of them together made my heart smile. How special that I have had two sets of grandparents that have shown me how to love and the importance of being devoted to one another.
