Smitten

Smitten with this incredible group of Juniors and Seniors!! The SBRM has a youth council, and this year we have 23 students representing 10 public/private high schools in Caddoand Bossier Parish. They apply and are selected by a panel of judges (that are made up of our board members). The students will host a drive in their schools this fall and this spring they will have a community 'feed the homeless' event. It is actually called THE BIG EVENT and El Chico caters it! Pretty cool huh? Anyway, this past weekend we had our kick off retreat, and it was amazing.

I absolutely LOVE youth and working with them. I love how innovative, creative, and open minded they are! It was just a few short years ago that I was one of them.... The world was my sand box. The best part for me: the world still is my sandbox! :) I want to change the world. I want to help every young person realize there fullest potential and who Christ has called them to be. I want to be part of a solution to generational cycles of poverty. I want to be that person that is the light in the darkness. I want to enable youth to see beyond their circumstances RIGHT NOW and move out of "barely or just enough" and into "more than enough"!!! Each one of these students have the world at their finger tips, and I will spend the next year helping them in any way I can to make their dreams a reality - just like I had when I was their age!
