Welcome to the World

Well it has officially been 17 weeks since A was born and I am just now updating the blog……. Hope you enjoy. :)

When I was younger I used to LOVE a Wedding Story and a Baby Story on TLC. They would come on back to back during the weekdays, and on the off chance I was home (especially during the summer) I watched them religiously. I would day dream about my wedding, and who that prince charming would be, and from there I would imagine what our baby story would be like…… It is amazing that I now have my own wedding story, and baby story. I couldn't be more thrilled my dreams have become a reality.

Here is our baby story:

After trying for six years to conceive, David and I had done or tried everything. On Monday, February 11, 2013 we found out we were pregnant!! I couldn't believe it. Both of us were just on cloud nine. We were going to have a baby, finally. For various reasons, I was labeled 'high risk' at the beginning of my pregnancy, which meant I got to have an ultra sound every week until I was 14 weeks along! It was a complete blessing each week as I went in to see our little angel get bigger and stronger. I already knew this baby was not only going to go full term, but this baby was special. I knew God truly had great and mighty things planned for this little one's life. At about 14 weeks we officially 'announced' to the world that we were soon-to-be a family of three!! A month or so later, we had the best time with a gender reveal party. We found out this angel was a precious baby girl. I couldn't wait to have a girl and it took David only five minutes longer until he was equally excited for all things pink. :) The summer was hot, but we made it through. After moving RIGHT before we approached our due date, we were finally ready to meet A.

David was working in Monroe the week of her birth. Mom was already in town, David came home Wednesday night, worked in the Shreveport office on Thursday. Dad arrived on Thursday morning before her debut. Once Dad arrived in town, I took them to meet the pediatrician. :) David got done with work early and met us at Home Depot. We had to pick up some last minute house supplies.  Mom made dinner for us that evening. I am not sure any one of us knew what to expect or how everything was going to go down. I can tell you, I was beyond nervous. We were to go in that night at 11:30pm to begin the induction process. I knew that if I didn't progress fast enough that I would end up with a C-Section, which was the LAST thing I wanted!

David and I made it to the hospital promptly at 11:30pm. We had pre-registered, so we just had to 'check in' through the ER and they would let Labor and Delivery know we were on our way up. The funny thing was, that when we checked in, the boy  (couldn't have been older than 18 yr old) working the ER check in desk, asked me, "so, are you having pain 'down there'?" I just looked at David like, "is this a joke?". Haha. I answered the gentleman simply with, "not yet". :)

We had the best nurses. They took great care of me and David. Very attentive. We got through the paperwork part and all hooked up. We were officially on our way to have a baby! They gave me a pill that evening to help soften things up. At 6am Dr B came in and broke my water and I  began pitocin. My dosage increased every 20 minutes.  I lasted until about 9am with no pain meds. It was time to bring on the epidural. I finally was able to just relax. The nurses told me that if I start feel anything, that it was probably the epidural wearing off, so just let them know and they would increase the dosage. Ok, no problem. So I rested. David was so excited he could hardly sit still. He wanted to make sure I got anything I needed. Mom slept on the couch next to me. Yes, you read that right - we have the picture to prove it. Dad was in the waiting room - down the hall. At about noon I told David I thought the meds were wearing off because I was really starting to feel some pressure. He went and got the nurse, and she was like it's not the meds wearing off - you are ready to have a baby!!!! You are at a ten! WHAT?! So Dr. B comes running and confirms what the nurse had said. However, she was like why don't we let you sit up for about 30 minutes and let gravity do its thing. Fine by me. So, I sat up. For about twenty minutes or so, I was fine sitting up. Then I could not hold back the urge to push. I literally pushed like five times and Dr B ran in just in time to catch A! She was born at 12:56pm weighing 7 lbs 5 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She was so swollen, but healthy, healthy! She was screaming at the top of her lungs when she was getting weighed and David went over to her and just started talking to her and instantly quieted right down. He has been wrapped around her finger ever since. :)

Words can not express how excited I was that A was finally here. We haven't looked back. Each day she gets more and more of a little personality, and she is SO full of life. A smiles ALL the time and is happy, happy, happy 95% of the time.

Here are some of those first pictures…..
